Horse Racing tips: Our traders 4 to try in Dubai on Thursday

Can any of these four score? Let's hope so.

Meydan Dubai

14:30 Meydan Rb Texas Hold Em

This is a big Group 1 race for the pure-bred Arabians, but the proximity to a similarly big race on Saturday at the Saudi Cup meeting has taken some of the better-know runners out of this contest. That loss is Rb Texas Hold Em’s gain. He was second in this race last year and should have come on plenty from the Round 2 contest last month.

15:05 Meydan – Bright Melody

The market typically revolves around what horse William Buick chooses to ride in these type of competitive contests. However, he may have overreacted to Ya Hayati’s victory off a low weight, four weeks ago. Bright Melody is the one he should be on, but James Doyle keeps the mount after running a big race last month when getting nailed by Ya Hayati’s. Doyle keeps it simple he will be in the clear a furlong from home and may just be too much for the field to catch.

16:15 Meydan – Volcanic Sky

Frankie Dettori is having a Carnival that reminds me of when he was the retained rider for Godolphin. However, he failed to ride a winner last week but can return to the winners’ enclosure with Volcanic Sky in this competitive staying contest. He was a good second over course and distance last time out that featured plenty of Thursday’s rivals and the weight-for-age scale makes him the clear one to beat.

17:25 Meydan – Could Be King

Could Be King put in another eye-catching performance three weeks ago when finishing a solid fourth over 6f. The UAE handicapper hasn’t missed him and he possibly could have been treated kinder and will have to put in a near peak-performance, carrying 9-10 now. I have reservations about many of the field and think he is a very solid each-way play in a race where Paddy’s paying an extra place
