Preston North End v Spurs, Saturday, 6pm
TV: BBC One, iPlayer

Preston North End face a tough test on Saturday evening when they host Spurs in the FA Cup. The Championship side have been in decent form of late but their home stats are terrible. The visitors have been on the receiving end of two damaging defeats to Arsenal and Man City recently but got back to winning ways thanks to a 1-0 victory at Fulham last Monday night. Let’s find the four best value picks for a monster Bet Builder.

Both Teams to Score

Spurs’ defensive record is pretty good of late, they’ve kept clean sheets in their victories over Fulham, Portsmouth and Crystal Palace but of their last eight on their travels they’ve only managed to keep their opponents scoreless twice.

Preston have won three and lost three of their last six but did, at least, score in four of those fixtures. At Deepdale they’ve only won three of their last seven, losing the other four, scoring in five of those seven. Against a shaky travelling Spurs’ defence we reckon the hosts will get at least one here, while Tottenham should get at least a couple.

Spurs -1

There’s little reason to think Antonio Conte won’t name his best starting XI here, with his side having a week to prepare for their upcoming home Premier League game against title hopefuls Manchester City. Spurs have won three of their last five fixtures, losing the other two while on their travels have won two, drawn two and lost two, scoring nine over their last five away games.

Preston’s form of late has certainly improved but their home results are very disappointing and while there’s little doubt that Ryan Lowe will have his team rearing to go at kick-off they just don’t have the players of the same quality that Conte does. We can only see Spurs winning here by a two or three goal margin.

Harry Kane, 12-22

Harry Kane to Score

Harry Kane equalled Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 goals in their victory at Craven Cottage on Monday last and has six over his last eight in a Spurs shirt. Kane loves cup competition football too, he’s scored 15 FA Cup goals over his career, as well as 39 in European competition and seven in the League Cup. While many in this Spurs’ team are underperforming this season, Kane is the reason they’re still knocking at the door for a Top 4 position.

The FA Cup represents Tottenham’s best chance at landing some silverware. Forest knocked them out of the League Cup while a Champions League run looks beyond them, so Kane will be gunning for the win here. We’ve opted for just the one goal, but to bump up the price it could be worth going for Kane to get two or more.

Liam Lindsay to be Shown a Card

The task of keeping Kane quiet is going to fall to Preston’s back three of Liam Lindsay, Jordan Storey and either of Bambo Diaby or Andrew Hughes. Both Lindsay and Storey have picked up 15 cards between them this season with Lindsay racking up eight to Storey’s seven. Lindsay is usually deployed in the central position of the back three and with him up against a Harry Kane who’s in absolutely flying form we can certainly see him making his way into the referee’s little black book.
