Premier League Fixtures: Ten Hag books one-way flight back to Amsterdam in October

Tough start

Comments

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has been prompted to book a one-way ticket to Amsterdam for October 23rd following today’s release of the Premier League fixtures, Paddy Power News understands.

The smooth-scalped tactician reportedly muttered ‘Well, I’m f**ked’ at 9:03am on Thursday morning when he saw United’s fixtures for the opening months.

He then immediately logged on to Ryanair for a £9.99 flight back to the Netherlands.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

“A key pillar of Erik’s strategy to turn around United is him getting out of there as soon as possible if the sh*t hits the fan,” we were told by a source.

The Dutchman made the move as soon as he saw that his side will play the rest of last season’s top 6 before November.

“With five games to be played before the transfer window closes, Erik expects to have to work with what he’s got,” our source explained. “At least until they sign Marouane Fellaini, Radamel Falcao and Bebe on deadline day.”

“He’s hopeful they can pick up his first three points against Arsenal on September 3rd, but then there’s City, Tottenham and Chelsea in October.”

United’s next game following the Chelsea defeat is against West Ham and Ten Hag is keen to avoid the embarrassment of losing to one his predecessors , David Moyes, so will choose to return swiftly to Amsterdam and leave Steve McClaren to deal with the fallout.

And internal social media analysis from the club suggest that a solution could be at hand to the club’s hierarchy by that stage of the season.

“The metrics suggest that #OleIn will be the trending daily on Twitter by this stage,” we were told.

“He could definitely take up the caretaker role til the end of the season.”

“And we’ll have the permanent contract ready if he puts a few wins together and smiles back on faces.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s already got a few days planned in the Dutch capital.

“He’ll go see the Ajax museum, cycle around on a bike, have a look around the red light district just to see what it’s like, y’know? The touristy stuff, only he’s definitely never going back to Manchester,”
