The former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has been installed as the 1/3 early favourite to be the next Hull manager.
Mike Phelan was sacked by the Hull overlords last night, after 20 games in charge this season. Phelan was appointed on a permanent basis in October but only managed to take 13 points. Monday’s 3-1 loss to West Brom seems to have been the final straw, with Phelan’s departure being announced last night.
Rowett, who was heavily linked with the Swansea job in December, was sacked by Birmingham early in December despite guiding them to seventh place in the Championship. Should he get the Hull job, it would be Rowett’s first role in the Premier League.
Other contenders in the market include, former Palace and Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew at 11/2. He too was relieved of his duties in December but it remains to be seen whether he is keen on an instant return to management.
Harry Redknapp 7/1 has been out of club management since 2015 and enjoyed a brief stint as Jordan manager last year.
