England consider Warnock for Nations League promotion push

His time has come

The English FA have identified Neil Warnock as the man to lead their Nations League Group B promotion charge, Paddy Power News can exclusively reveal.

England suffered the embarrassment of relegation from Group A after a 1-0 defeat against Italy in Milan last Friday.

Warnock retired from football management earlier this year to spend more time with his sh*thousing.

But with pressure mouthing on Gareth Southgate following a winless Nations League campaign which saw his side finish bottom of their group, senior figures within the FA are hoping to persuade promotion specialist Warnock out of retirement.

Paddy Power News understands FA chiefs tried to woo the former Sheffield United boss with a customised bowling ball inscribed with the words ‘Warnock is a w*nker’.

Although initial contact with Warnock’s camp has been made, the FA will wait until England have exited the Qatar World Cup at the last-16 stage on penalties before making an official move.

Addressing the rumours with PPN, Warnock said: ‘Me, take England job? F**king hell, f**king hell, I need to lie down’.

‘Sharon, get Jagielka lad ont’ telephone. He’s back in the England fold’, the 73-year-old said to his wife.

‘I don’t care if he’s 40 and playing in the Championship. He’s better than Dier. Tell ‘im ta pack his toothbrush’.

‘Jags knows what it means to play for your country’.

‘You’ve got to f**king die to get three lions on a shirt’.

Meanwhile, former England international Fabian Delph has announced his second retirement from professional football, 3 years after his initial retirement upon signing for Everton.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

Despite Delph decision to call it a day, current England boss Gareth Southgate confirmed he will include the 32-year-old in his 26-man World Cup squad travelling to Qatar.

‘Fabian’s exactly the type of player I want in my squad because he can play at full-back. But mainly because his name isn’t Trent Alexander Arnold’.
