Leeds United are out to continue their impressive return to life in the Premier League tonight when Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves come hunting at Elland Road.

Leeds to win
This will be a very different challenge for Leeds than their games against Liverpool and City in recent weeks. Marcelo Bielsa’s side caught the eye with their performances against the best two sides in the league, but this is the type of game they need to be winning if they have plans on gatecrashing the top-10 this season.
They have already shown that they struggle somewhat against teams they are expected to dominate against and need to put in a convincing performance at home to a struggling Wolves side. In their two victories this season, Leeds conceded three times against a Fulham side that could well emulate the Derby 07/08 team and had snatched a late winner away to Sheffield United in a game they scarcely deserved to win.
Both of those teams sit in the bottom two without a point to their name at the time of writing. Leeds need to avoid falling into a similar trap against Wolves, who have been badly out of form this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were battered by West Ham a week prior to their second win of the season against Fulham and were ripped to shreds by Manchester City for 45 minutes. This is a great opportunity for Leeds to move closer to the top-four.

Over 2.5 goals
It feels like every single Premier League game is going to be high-scoring at this early stage of the season. At this early stage of the season, there has been an average of 3.81 goals per game, which dwarves last year’s average of 2.72 goals a game.
That figure will obviously come down as the season goes on, but it just seems like every team is incapable of defending at the moment, Leeds and Wolves included. Leeds conceded seven goals in their opening two games of the season and while their defensive record has improved markedly in their last two games, they were lucky not to concede several times to both Manchester City and Sheffield United.
They had Illan Meslier’s heroics to thank for their clean sheet against the Blades, while City could have been out of sight after 20 minutes. Wolves, meanwhile, kept a clean sheet against Fulham, which is hardly something to write home about, but shipped four against a West Ham side that had lost their opening two games. Both Leeds and Wolves are more than capable of finding the back of the net themselves and there should be goals on Monday night.

Rodrigo to score anytime
Leeds’s record signing Rodrigo endured a difficult start at Elland Road, struggling to make the first team on account of Patrick Bamford’s terrific form in the opening weeks of the season, but his performance against City should earn him a starting berth on Monday.
The Spanish striker changed the game when he came on against City, striking the bar and then capitalising on an Ederson error to draw Leeds level within about a minute of coming on.
He needs to score regularly if he is to justify his hefty price tag and nail down a starting berth. He will hope to do so against a Wolves side that have been coughing up goals so far.

Over 10.5 corners
If Monday’s game does turn out to be a high-scoring and entertaining affair, chances are there is going to be a lot of corners. Leeds have been winning corners with increased regularity ever since they failed to win a single one in their opening day defeat to Liverpool.
Bielsa’s side have won 19 corners in their last three league games, just over six a game on average, and there is a clear reason for that. They have been more dominant in games since that opening day defeat to Liverpool, when they scored with basically every foray into Liverpool territory.
Even against the might of Man City, Leeds controlled far more phases of the game and won seven corners as a result. They have also conceded corners at an average of seven per game since the start of the season and we should see more than 10 corners on Monday night.
