Football Tips: A Ramos red and a shock on the cards? Our trader’s best bets for Real Madrid v Eibar

This game is not at the Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid decided to use the break to get some much-needed construction work done. Real have moved to their training ground which is a far smaller 6,000 capacity stadium.

If we look at the prices prior to lockdown and compared them to now, there is no difference. For that reason, I think there is value to be had in Eibar here. I still think Real Madrid are the bet on the title race as Barca are just too reliant on Lionel Messi, but for this specific game I think Eibar +1 or Eibar and the Draw Double chance are the value bets.

Eibar play in one of the smallest stadiums in comparison to top-flight clubs around Europe so playing at a small stadium won’t be any issue for them. Real Madrid are going to come into the game quite rusty after lockdown – this is a great leveller. Teams usually need seven or eight games in pre-season to get up to speed ahead of their first competitive fixture but they are straight back at it here.

Another reason is Eibar actually managed to beat Real Madrid at home last season. The way they set up with their high press can cause Madrid problems. If Real don’t get the early goal they can get frustrated and for those reasons I just think there is some value in siding with Eibar this weekend.

Another tip I fancy for this game is in the player to be booked market. I’d have a look at Sergio Ramos to get a yellow card in this game. You could even have a look at him getting sent off too.

He is 34-years of age, he keeps himself in great shape but match fitness is different and I think he could find himself in a position where he may have to make a rash tackle.

Paul McGrath never had to make rash tackles but Ramos is the opposite. He has 7 yellow cards this season and given that he is rusty and that Real could be facing a frustrating game, I think it’s a market that is well worth a look.
