Newport and Macclesfield to battle for Unsponsored derby trophy – again

Not to float our own boat but it's probably the greatest trophy in the game today.

Newport County welcome Macclesfield Town to Rodney Parade on Tuesday night – with the hope of securing the ‘Unsponsored Derby’ silverware. The game marks the second meeting of two teams unsponsored by, ahem, us, this season, as part of our Save Our Shirt campaign.

The first meeting, at Moss Rose in September last year, ended in a 1-1 draw meaning both sides shared the trophy. As well as the silverware – which will be stored in the winning team’s trophy cabinet– we have unsponsored almost all of the ground’s advertising boards, match sponsor, programme and Man of the Match award.

Teaming up with several local brands, we’ve made sure that most of the perimeter boards at Rodney Parade will bear no brand logos (See full list of brands below).

Paddy said: “The trophy is polished, ready and raring to be won at Rodney Parade in the second edition of the Unsponsored Derby on Tuesday. We’re excited to see two of our partner clubs match up again and proud to unsponsor as much of the match as is possible, to return to the game to the supporters.”

Alex Eagle, NCAFC Commercial Manager said: “NCAFC are delighted to be hosting the second ‘Save Our Shirt’ Unsponsored Derby of the season. A huge thank you to our partners who have got involved, here’s hoping County can get the win and secure the trophy!”
