We’ve taken a dive into the weird and wonderful world of our punters’ minds ahead of the 17/18 season and plucked out three of your most optimistic bets.
Danny Welbeck to be the 17/18 Premier League top goalscorer: 66/1
Now listen, I love Danny Welbeck as much as the next girl, but this one is a pretty special bet. Someone tell Welbz that there’s a very positive-thinking Arsenal fan out there who is backing him to grab the league by the horns and grab the Golden Boot.
It’s probably worth baring in mind that he netted two goals in 16 games last campaign – although he did come back from a serious injury – and has in fact scored 36 goals in 170 appearances. To put it in perspective, that’s only seven more than Harry Kane scored in the entire of last season.
Wayne Rooney to score a hat-trick against Stoke on the first day of the season: 20/1
There’s nothing like a bit of romance in football, is there? Rooney makes his emotional return to Goodison Park this weekend, and one of our bettors fancies him to net three.
His last league threesome (of goals, we mean…) may have come in 2011 against Bolton, but with only Frank Lampard and Alan Shearer scoring more goals on the opening day of the season than Wazza, who knows.
Liverpool to go unbeaten in the Premier League: 250/1
Oh, wow. Now this is a very fun selection.
Liverpool may have scored three or more goals on 12 occasions last season, and lost just six games in total, but expecting Jurgen Klopp to do an ‘Invincibles’ is a pretty ginormous ask. Then again, if Virgil van Dijj arrives, who knows…Crazy, stupid punts. Find the latest Premier League odds over on PaddyPower.com
