Punting Hall of Fame: How one punter called Lukaku to score first and Everton to win 4-0 at 800/1

Take a bow! Here's how one punter on Merseyside correctly nailed an 800/1 shot to brighten up his Sunday afternoon. You Beauty!

Well that’s certainly one way to brighten up your Sunday! While Pep Fraud-iola and his Manchester City players come to terms with being a massive 10 points behind league-leaders Chelsea, Evertonians will be dancing the night away – although maybe not as hard as one Paddy Power punter on Merseyside.

That’s right, one PP customer from St Helens correctly called the game, backing Romelu Lukaku to score first and the Toffees to win 4-0 at an outstanding 800/1. His £2 stake returned £1.6k and blasted away the January blues in the process. You Beauty!

Romelu Lukaku fired the home side in front on 34 minutes, a goal which came completely against the run of play but got this punt off to the perfect start.

Our lucky punter would have been hoping at half-time that Everton would quickly double their lead – and they did just that when Kevin Mirallas caught the City defence napping two minutes after the re-start.

The dream took a huge step towards becoming reality in the 79th minute when Tom Davies calmly beat Claudio Bravo to send Ronald Koeman’s men 3-0 up and put the game to bed.

But there was still late drama, and with our punter’s bum as squeaky as physically possible we ticked into the fifth minute of added time. Incredibly Ademola Lookman was on hand to add a bit of gloss to the scoreline and send this punter into the Punting Hall of Fame.

Pints on you tonight good sir. What a bet!
