A 3/1 double from the pick of the French Open quarter-finals

As the French Open gets down to the last eight for both men and women, our tennis traders give us a double across the two draws...

Y Putinseva – Set Handicap (+1.5) – Evs

If you predicted this quarter final then you should probably consider a career change to Tarot reader extraordinaire. With tournament favourite Elina Svitolina knocked out in the third round and last year’s winner Jelana Ostapenko crashing out in the first, this quarter final matchup has come as a surprise to many.

Both players, however, are playing fantastic tennis and although Madison Keys should win this encounter we expect the feisty and highly competitive Putinseva to steal a set from her. Putinseva won their only previous encounter and at even money the set handicap +1.5 looks to be nice value.

Dominic Thiem to beat Alexander Zverev (-1.5 sets) -11/10

A much more predictable quarter final here with seeds 2 and 7 meeting.

Thiem produced some outstanding tennis on his way to a four-set win over a disappointing Kei Nishikori, who did rally in set 3 and 4 after getting bagelled in set 2.

Zverev on the other hand made things difficult yet again and for the third match in a row was taken to five sets, but still found a way to get over the line. The German divides opinion, and has his detractors (even on certain articles here) but no doubt he is a superstar and has achieved a lot already (he only just turned 21).

But we think this selection comes down to freshness, with fatigue having to play a part in Zverev’s chances after so many tough encounters in a row and we are backing Thiem to get the win in 3 or 4 sets.
