13:50 Newmarket – Dark Thirty
Richard Hannon would love to kick off the day with a winner. Dark Thirty has run well at this track without winning and the ground will not be an issue. Lots of these are racing off career high marks but this lad has run consistently off this sort of rating.
14:05 Cheltenham – Titan Discovery (each way)
Titan Discovery was a good second at Kempton in a race that is working out really well. Trainer Robbie Llewellyn is flying and his runner looks an each-way steal.
14:25 Newmarket – Native American
Wathnan Racing will be keen to make a mark with new rider James Doyle on board. Native American was highly thought of when winning at the Curragh in a valuable contest.
He finished behind Rosallion at Longchamp in a Grade One but lots of these connections will be hoping they have done well physically during the winter. I love this time of the year for the three-year-olds and it will be fascinating to see how this plays out.
14:40 Cheltenham – Scarface
Scarface was the winner of a really competitive chase at Plumpton last time. He really seems to have got his act together now.
15:00 Newmarket – Ottoman Fleet
Ottoman Fleet won this last year and then went on to win a Group Two at Belmont. He has been plying his trade in Meydan this winter so is fit and ready for today.
15:35 Newmarket – Matrika
Dance Sequence is the obvious one and the paddock inspection will be all important. Matrika gets the nod though. She is a daughter of No Nay Never and was second at Royal Ascot over 6f and won at the Curragh on quick ground afterwards. Not seen since July but she could be a real improver. I will take a punt at the prices.
