Horse Racing tips: Timeform’s best bets at Carlisle on Monday

Timeform give their fancies for every race.

Carlisle betting tips:

13:35 – Dunnet Head
14:10 – Escapeandevade
14:45 – Poetic Music
15:15 – Maid OMalley
15:45 – Clear White Light
16:15 – Patient Owner
16:45 – Moonlit Park

13:35 – Dunnet Head

DUNNET HEAD was a pricey purchase as a three-year-old and looked a good prospect when making a winning start in a bumper at Ayr in October, justifying market support and also overcoming the run of the race. He was again strong in the market for his hurdling debut but failed to meet expectations at Kelso in December for all he wasn’t beaten far. Dunnet Head remains with potential and looks to have been well placed here. Sleeping Satellite should last longer this time, while Yukon, who has to give away weight, could also have more to offer.

14:10 – Escapeandevade

Only four runners but there is some potential on show here and ESCAPEANDEVADE will likely prove hard to beat following his impressive victory at Ayr last month. He was beaten when looking the likeliest winner at Wetherby on his previous start, but there was nothing wrong with his finishing effort last time, drawing clear from some way out to win hard held. That wasn’t the strongest race but a 7 lv rise looks lenient and he is a horse to keep on side. Captain Quint is threatening to come good again soon and can provide the biggest threat.

14:45 – Poetic Music

POETIC MUSIC won her first three starts in bumpers last season and finished a creditable sixth to Facile Vega in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival. That is good form and she had little trouble landing the odds on hurdling debut and return to action at Ludlow in November. She has progressed twice in defeat since, bumping into some useful rivals, and Poetic Music should find this much easier for all she isn’t proven at this longer trip. Her class is taken to tell, though, and she can prove too good for Ebonello and Bents Hollow, who have also won over hurdles.

15:15 – Maid OMalley

MAID O’MALLEY did the job well in this race last year, and while she’s 11 lb higher this time round and may not be gifted an easy lead with Lilith in opposition, the Stuart Coltherd-trained mare should nevertheless prove a tough nut to crack. She ran a promising race behind a smart mare on her return to action and can bounce back from a lesser run when beaten by the same rival at Doncaster last time now. With both Haute Estime and Lilith arriving with something to prove, La Renommee, who made an encouraging start over fences at Wetherby, is likely to emerge as the main danger.

15:45 – Clear White Light

CLEAR WHITE LIGHT remains lightly raced for a seven-year-old and he opened his account for this yard in good style at Doncaster last month, justifying good support having shaped promisingly on his debut for this stable on his previous start. He didn’t look a likely winner approaching the last but stayed on strongly to lead in the dying strides, pulling well clear of the remainder with the runner-up who was gambled on. This should be run at a strong pace and the stiff finish at this track will suit him well back down in trip. Malpas has a very good record over course and distance and is second choice ahead of unexposed pair Leading Force and Quick Sharpener.

16:15 – Patient Owner

The one with the most compelling claims based on recent evidence is PATIENT OWNER, who made a positive start over fences upped to three miles at Uttoxeter last month where he found just one too good. A 2 lb rise for that looks very fair indeed, particularly in light of the fact that the third and fourth from that race have both won since, and he is expected to build further on that now. Chris Cool could have a part to play if taking to fences at the first attempt, while Dawn Raider is capable of going well off this mark.

16:45 – Moonlit Park

MOONLIT PARK is a well-related mare representing a successful yard so a successful debut would come as little surprise, especially as she makes plenty of appeal on paper in a race where the ones with experience don’t set the bar too high. Bullets Hill, Judicial Review and Bertie’s Ballet must all carry a penalty as previous winners but they can remain competitive.
