Wolverhampton 16:00 – Desert Lime

It looks as if this daughter of Sepoy is getting quicker with her racing, having originally started her career over the long sprint of 7 furlongs. She has posted two solid efforts down at the minimum and now returns to what looks like her optimum trip on a turning track. The tongue-tie stays and the cheekpieces are added for extra focus.

Dundalk 16:15 Form of Praise

Has been picked up by this very shrewd Adrian McGuinness outfit for just 7,000 guineas at the horses- in-training sale. She has a slightly raised profile and is only having her fourth lifetime start down at the minimum trip and it’s her first ever try on an artificial surface. She looks to have been found a good opportunity and can nearly repay her purchase price in one hit.

Dundalk 17:15 Dreams Delivered

Has been drawn very wide on the last two occasions at this venue but has been gifted a much handier position towards the paint on Friday night. He went far too quickly in the early stages last time and I’m sure he’ll be ridden with a little bit more restraint this time. He’s only recently been trying this 1m 2f distance and arguably it’s going to bring about a pinch more of improvement out of him.

Wolverhampton 17:30 Bernard Spearpoint

Eventually got his head in front at the 19th time of asking in pretty tidy fashion over the minimum distance on the new surface at Southwell last time. He goes unpenalised for that victory and reappears in this classified contest with his handicap mark unchanged. Looks to have been favourably treated by the assessor. He is drawn in the car park in stall 10, so that should be factored into the price and this is another week contest.

Dundalk 18:45 Miss Cunning

All of her three successes so far have come at this course over a variety of distances. This 7f discipline hold no fears whatsoever and she had been dropping like a stone in the handicap. I’m sure connections feel a little hard done by as she was raised 3lbs for a fairly decent effort last time. She should be able to overcome that and again has a nice position in stall three.

Wolverhampton 19:00 Blackjack

Would appear to be on a good-looking handicap mark of just 64 having popped up at 50/1 on debut and then running a 76-rated rival to half the length also at Newcastle. Both of those races were over a furlong shorter but judging by the way he finishes his races. This trip looks well within his compass and jockey Dale Swift is already on the scoresheet for 2022. He should come here brimming with confidence after striking up a good partnership with this gelding.
