Jazz King made an encouraging start to his career in bumpers last season, hitting the frame at Hereford and Fontwell, and he also shaped with plenty of promise on his hurdling debut at Ffos Las last month, only worn down close home with the front pair pulling 36 lengths clear. Two and a half miles on heavy ground at Ffos Las posed a serious test of stamina but Jazz King coped with it well, posting a borderline-useful effort that sets a good standard here. He can get off the mark.

12:55 Ask A Honey Bee
Ask A Honey Bee, a three-time winner in bumpers and a dual winner over hurdles, comes from a pointing background and has always appealed as the type to make a better chaser. He made a promising start over fences when runner-up at Uttoxeter and is worth another chance to build on that after posting just a respectable effort in second at Exeter last time behind a decent prospect who has since scored at Cheltenham. Ask A Honey Bee returns to handicap company on a decent mark and this looks like a nice opportunity.
13:30 Martha Brae
Martha Brae was notably strong in the betting when making a successful stable debut for Dan Skelton at Exeter a few weeks ago and an 8 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop her following up. Martha Brae only won by two lengths at Exeter but she scored with plenty in hand and remains with potential for this yard.
14:05 Defi du Seuil
Defi du Seuil has something to prove after a disappointing campaign but he is the class act in the field and is worth siding with after a break. Defi du Seuil has bounced back from a disappointing campaign before – he made little impact on either start in the season following his juvenile campaign – and he returns with the Philip Hobbs team going well and among the winners. He should be too good for these if rejuvenated after a break.
14:40 Buzz
Buzz progressed well over hurdles last season, notably winning a handicap at this venue and signing off for the campaign with an excellent second in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle. He continued the fine work by landing the Cesarewitch on his first Flat start for more than two years, getting the better of a thrilling battle with Burning Victory, and he looks set to give another good account of himself here. He is a reliable type and can make the most of the 6 lb he receives from Goshen and Song For Someone.

15:15 Sky Pirate
Sky Pirate thrived after being dropped back in trip last season, winning the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival to establish himself as a very smart chaser. Sky Pirate ran to a similar level when chasing home the reopposing Before Midnight at Cheltenham on his return last month, and he can make the most of the 8 lb swing in the weights he has with that rival.
15:50 Thames Water
This could be a warm race but the one who makes most appeal is Thames Water. The €90,000 purchase is a brother to two winners, including the useful Minella Melody, and he is in excellent hands with Paul Nicholls. Nicholls has his team in good order and has been doing well in bumpers this season.
