13:50 Haydock – Itchy Feet
ITV Racing Saturday gets under way here with a graduation chase over an extended 2m 5f. Bravemansgame could clearly be miles better than these, but at the odds I have to have a few quid on ITCHY FEET for Olly Murphy and Gavin Sheehan.
My selection has to give weight away which makes things tough straight away, but what he does have is loads of chasing experience which give him a solid rating in the 150s. His last two runs at Aintree last year were good and if he’s ready, he should at least be able to give the likely hot favourite a race.

14:05 Ascot – Lostintranslation
ITV are also at Ascot Saturday starting with this Grade 2 chase over 2m 5f. Dashel Drasher might prefer deeper going, so I will give one more chance to LOSTINTRANSLATION to show that he has not completely lost the plot for Colin Tizzard and Brendan Powell.
The former Gold Cup third has done nothing in his last three runs and it’s impossible to know where he is at these days. But, he goes here on his first run after a wind operation and that’s the big hope.
14:25 Haydock – Flight Deck
Now a stayers’ handicap hurdle over an extended 3m. I’ll have a few quid each-way on FLIGHT DECK for the Jonjo O’Neill team. He stepped up to this sort of trip at Ascot two runs ago, where the seven-year-old was a decent fourth and then he went on to win at Wetherby last time. He’s up 7lbs for those two efforts, but seems to be improving. There are many open to improvement in this, but my hope is one of them.
14:40 Ascot – Buzz
A Grade 2 hurdle event over an extended 2m 3f. BUZZ is very exciting and should get a strong gallop to run at. The Nicky Henderson runner, ridden by Nico de Boinville, did this column a right turn when landing the Cesarewitch and he might turn into a Stayers’ Hurdle horse this term. However, he’s not devoid of speed and can come slicing through late here.
15:00 Haydock – Royale Pagaille
This is the feature Grade 1 Betfair Chase over an extended 3m 1f, and it’s an absolute belter. There are horses in here much easier to pick than Royale Pagaille ROYALE PAGAILLE, but I’ll still back him each-way for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. The Gold Cup sixth was never going that well at Cheltenham and finished lame.
Prior to that he had looked a monster in two wins at this track and he might still have more to offer. He jumps well and is a sound stayer. The main issue is the ground – he might want much more juice than there is currently. However, we have no evidence yet that is the case.
15:15 Ascot – Before Midnight
Now a handicap chase over 2m 1f. BEFORE MIDNIGHT is getting high in the weights now, but he jumps for fun and will be hard to catch from the front for trainer Sam Thomas and Sam Twiston-Davies on board. He’s up 8lbs for a defeat of the re-opposing Sky Pirate at Cheltenham the other day and going right-handed should not be an issue as he’s decent form at Kempton and Sandown.
15:35 Haydock – Strictlyadancer
Here’s a handicap chase over an extended 3m 1f and very easy to pick STRICTLYADANCER here, who is improving fast for Christian Williams and Jack Tudor. Two recent wins at Cheltenham have sent the seven-year-old from a mark of 110 to 122, however he started from the low end of the rankings and he might still have another success in him against this classier field.
