Paddy Power Millionaire Chase: I’d been working 12 hour shifts & hadn’t a clue I’d won

It's five down and one to go for Paddy's Paddy Power's Millionaire Chase bonanza.

Another Saturday, another €/£10k weekly winner as Kim from London became the fifth qualifier for Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase on New Year’s Day.

Kim backed Song for Someone (6/1) to win the 3pm at Cheltenham and was then picked out as the €/£10k weekly prize winner in last Monday night’s draw on Paddy Power’s Facebook and Twitter channels.

More importantly, Kim now goes forward as the fifth finalist in Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day with the chance to win a million quid. Literally

Paddy broke the good news to Kim who was totally oblivious to the fact that she’s guaranteed £10k and has the chance to win £1 million in the sweepstake final on New Year’s Day.

PP: So what took you so long, Kim, to realise you’d won?

I’ve been working overtime at Argos in the run up to Christmas, Paddy and I’m up at 5:30am for a 12-hour shift at 6am. I haven’t had a minute, so it was wonderful news when you told me I’d won the weekly prize and now have a shot at £1m in the sweepstake on New Year’s Day,

PP: How did you get interested in racing?

My nan used to mind us on Saturdays when we were kids and we’d pick horses out of the paper and cheer them home, I love having a bet on the Grand National and the other big races. Sometimes it’s  25p and sometimes £1.

PP: What would you do if you won the £1m on New Year’s Day?

It’s just unbelievable to even be in with a chance of winning it. The £10k has already been a wonderful surprise Christmas present. My partner & I are renting at the moment so I’d love to buy a house and move out of London, look after her family and go on a massive holiday! I’ve got five grandkids of my own now and can’t wait to see them soon.

The final draw for this stage of the competition takes place on Monday, Dec 21 on the main Paddy Power Facebook page or on the @paddypower Twitter account to see if you’ll become a £/€10,000 winner tonight and receive the golden ticket through to the £1m New Year’s Day sweepstake race at Cheltenham.
