Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase: I hadn’t a clue I’d won €10k prize says second winner in New Year’s day giveaway

It's two down and four to go for Paddy's Paddy Power's Millionaire Chase bonanza.

Millionaire Weekly winner

Another Saturday, another €/£10k weekly winner as Chris from Mohill became the second qualifier for Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase on New Year’s Day.

Chris backed the Kim Bailey-trained First Flow (3/1) to win the 3.17 at Ascot on Saturday and was then picked out as the €/£10k weekly prize winner in Monday night’s draw on Paddy Power’s Facebook and Twitter channels.

More importantly, Chris now goes forward as one of the finalists with last week’s winner Carol in Paddy Power’s Millionaire Chase at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day with the chance to win a million quid. Literally!

Paddy broke the good news to Chris, a Bolton-born Aston Villa fan who has lived in Ireland for more than 20 years.

PP: When did you hear you won the prize?

I remember Opting In on PaddyPower.com but kind of forgot about it then until someone contacted me. I hadn’t a clue what was going on really when I was told I’d won and should have read the mail properly to be honest. Even to hear I’d won the £/€10k weekly prize was a huge surprise as was going  into the final field for the Paddy Power Millionaire Chase sweepstake on New Year’s Day at Cheltenham with the chance to win £/€1m.

PP: Why did you pick First Flow?

I don’t know how I hit on First Flow. I was backing two or three that day and it just seemed to jump off the page at me, so I thought, why not? If I thought I had the chance to win the Millionaire Chase qualifier I might have studied the form a bit more and picked something else! Thankfully, it worked out.

PP: What will you do with the money?

The last year has been a bit of a slog and there seems to have been nothing but bad luck around every corner. I’m glad lady luck has finally smiled on me. I hate to be boring, but if I won the £/€1 million on New Year’s Day, I’ll buy a house, a car and put something aside for the kids.

One thing’s for sure – I won’t be giving any of it back to you Paddy!
