Football Tips: Our 4 fab picks in this 33/1 EFL acca for Saturday

The fancy Dans are off on their holidays, but League One and Two are keeping it real with a full fixture list this weekend.

Lincoln v Bristol Rovers: Lincoln Win

Lincoln pulled three points out of the fire at Blackpool last weekend. They went 2-1 down in the 82nd minute before a red card for the Tangerines’ James Husband led to a converted Imps penalty and then a winner for the visitors in the 88th minute.

It was classic League One fare and no less than we’ve come to expect from this never-say die Lincoln side, but I think they can return to their dominant best again this week. They welcome a Bristol Rovers side to Sincil Bank on Saturday who are fresh from their first three points of the season and sit 15th in the league.

Rovers defeated 10-man Northampton 2-0 at home seven days ago but have shown they don’t quite have what it takes to really threaten the better teams in the division. They did get an opening day draw with Sunderland but succumbed to Ipswich (3rd) and Doncaster (5th) after, which gives confidence that Lincoln will have the materials to Win again on Saturday.

Blackpool v Ipswich: Under 2.5 Goals

We’ve already covered Blackpool’s exploits last weekend and they’ll be desperate to avoid the heartache of throwing away the lead again, should they get it.

Ipswich’s run of three 2-0 wins on the bounce came to an end away at bottom-placed MK Dons last week courtesy of a 1-1 draw – and they seemed more than happy to take that point and run. It is tempting to back them to win again, but the setup, substitutions and statistics from last weekend’s effort has made me think twice.

They were dominated by the basement boys so, as Paul Lambert’s men will clearly try to keep things tight and pinch it by the odd goal or two if possible, Under 2.5 Goals feels like the right play. The facts back that up, too. Blackpool’s 3-2 thriller last week is the only time Under 2.5 has not landed in League One for them this term while it’s come off in all four of The Tractor Boys’ outings.

Salford v Tranmere: Draw

Salford are yet to win at home but they have started to find their stride on the road with two wins from two as they remain undefeated in the league. In terms of their home form, a slightly fortunate 2-2 draw with Exeter (6th) on the opening day and a 0-0 against Forest Green (10th) two weeks later are nothing to be too concerned about as both are likely to be in or around the playoffs come May.

Tranmere have been disappointing since their relegation at the end of last season and are 15th in League Two. They are, however, unbeaten away from home with two points courtesy of consecutive 0-0 draws at Mansfield and Cambridge.

They won at home last time out but are clearly setting up to keep their hosts at bay when they travel. They seem happy enough to pick up as many dogged points on the road as they can while making hay back at Prenton Park. With Salford struggling to overpower teams that come to their place with a defensive mindset, it feels like these two will cancel each other out and the Draw is a nice price all things considered.

Oldham v Morecambe: Morecambe Win

Morecambe have been something of a surprise package in the early stages of this League Two season and they find themselves in the heady heights of second after four games. They’ve been grinding it out and, bar the aberration of their 5-0 loss to Cambridge, have won their other three games by a one-goal margin both home and away.

Oldham have been finding it much tougher and hold a solitary point from their four games. Even more concerning than the bare results is the fact they haven’t really faced any of the early pace setters or pre-season favourites yet. It’s an ominous sign and the last thing they need right now is a Morecambe side rocking up to Boundary Park on cloud nine.

I’m still struggling to believe that The Shrimps really have what it takes to continue this kind of form until May, but with the price on offer and the two sides’ respective form, we have to be on Morecambe to Win here.
