Inter can extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches and book their place in the Europa League semi-final with a win against German side Bayer Leverkusen.
The Italian side are favourites going into the match, but Leverkusen are no pushovers and they love an early goal, so don’t expect them to have anything to fear.
Let’s have a look for the three best bets for this Europa League quarter final match.
Over 2.5 Goals
At first glance Inter matches don’t seem to have too many goals, but this being played at a neutral venue we need to pay a little more attention to away form. Five out of the last six away Inter matches saw Over 2.5 goals and they’ve scored a hefty 15 goals over those matches to boot.
Bayer Leverkusen’s record isn’t as good. Overs was only seen in three from five recent away matches.
However, they scored eight over those five and scored at least one in four of those matches.
Looking at league history there were Over 2.5 goals in 25/38 Serie A matches for Inter, while it also landed in 20/34 Leverkusen matches in the Bundesliga. Add to that, over their three Europa League matches Inter have scored six and Leverkusen have scored nine over their four in the competition.
Both sides are in decent goal scoring form too, Inter have netted nine over their five most recent matches. Meanwhile, Leverkusen have scored seven, so armed with those stats we reckon we’re looking at goals here.
Over 0.5 First Half Goals for Inter
Over their seven most recent matches, Inter have scored a first-half goal in all of them and while we’ve written about Leverkusen’s love for a first half goal on these pages before, they’ve been letting the side down of late.
Over their five most recent fixtures they only scored a first half goal in two of them.
With Inter in the better overall form, we expect them to take first blood here and with a decent record of first half goals, we like the price here on them to get at least one during the first period of play.
Romelu Lukaku to Score Anytime
Romelu Lukaku has had an incredibly good first season in Italy. Manager Antonio Conte has built this team around the big Belgian, making sure he gets the service he needs. Lukaku has always had the talent, but in Italy we’ve seen how deadly he can be when he has the trust of a manager.
He scored 26 goals over the league campaign this season, scoring two Coppa Italia goals and five in Inter’s eight Champions League and Europa League matches this campaign.
We fancy his chances here, and we’re getting pretty decent odds for a striker in such good goal scoring form.
