Football tips: Our super 4/1 Same Game Multi for Man United v FC Copenhagen on Monday

Can The Red Devils end the season with silverware?

pjimageMUCopAug20

Manchester United strolled into the last 16 thanks to their 7-1 aggregate win over Austria’s LASK Linz last week.

Meanwhile, Copenhagen surprised many by beating newly-crowned Turkish champions Basaksehir 0-3 last Wednesday night to win 1-3 on aggregate, but they are still rank outsiders here.

United are now favourites to lift the trophy, but can Copenhagen pull off the impossible? Let’s have a look at a Same Game Multi for this Europa League quarter-final match.

Both Teams to Score

Some very decent odds here and much has been made of Man United’s David de Gea’s fall from grace over the last few seasons. While the Spaniard has to take most of the blame United’s defence has been patchwork at best for the past few seasons.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should really be going all out to land a couple of big names to shore up his defence. Man United’s core midfield and attacking players are plenty good enough, it’s that ramshackle defence that always lets them down.

The Red Devils rarely go a match without conceding, they averaged 0.95 goals conceded per Premier League game this season, it rises to 1.0 goals if we look at away games only. United have a good scoring record though; at 1.74 goals per league match this season.

Copenhagen rarely go a match without scoring, they averaged 1.61 goals per game this season and 1.28 when playing away matches. They don’t score tons it must be said, 13 over their last 10 and 12 over their 10 most recent away matches, but are good enough to get at least one past this United defence.

Anthony Martial to Score Anytime

Man United’s French forward has been formidable in this competition, from his five games played so far he’s hit the back of the net four times.

Bruno Fernandes is another good shout here too as he’s got six in this season’s competition, five of which came for his former club Sporting though.

We’re giving the Frenchman the nod here because he’s been so clinical in the competition for the Red Devils and he should see plenty of the ball again here.

Man United to Win the First Half

Both teams have very decent scoring records in the first half of matches at first glance. Man United scored 35 goals over 38 games in the opening period of Premier League matches. Copenhagen, for their part, have netted 24 over 36.

This being a one-off cup game though, it has the feeling of an away match for both teams. When we look at those records; Man United have scored 14 over 19 games and Copenhagen got just nine over 18.

Over their eight most recent Europa League matches, United have been winning at half time in five and the gulf between both leagues should be evident here, so we’re backing United to win the first half.
