Phil Thompson is back to help you take some more cash out of Paddy’s pockets after firing in some decent-value winners last weekend. Our football ambassador has gone in two footed as he looks at Friday night’s game with Newcastle travelling to in-form Southampton.
Friday 8pm: Southampton v Newcastle Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Southampton around even money? Get on it guys! Oh my goodness! I thought they would be a shorter price than what they are because honestly, Southampton have been incredible. Some of their performances have been high quality.
You’re looking at them against Aston Villa, what’s happened to Villa since the beat my beloved Liverpool? But, Southampton, what a team. They will miss Danny Ings. He’s been an absolute revelation for them.
But, James Ward-Prowse-Beckham with his free-kicks, I would think Newcastle are going to have to watch out. He scored those two wonderful ones against Aston Villa and they’re on a high and I think the confidence is there.
You can say the same thing about Newcastle, but you look at Newcastle and their stats, they’ve had the joint-fewest shots in the Premier League. They’ve only had 18 shots on target, scoring 10 goals, which is good going.
But, they faced 117 shots, the most by about 13, in the Premier League. So it shows, maybe they’re just getting away with it, Newcastle at the moment.
THOMMO’S TIP:I think coming up, away at Southampton, I think Southampton are gonna be a good bet, I really do. I’ve gone for Southampton to win 2-0.
