13:30 – Invictus World

The ones with experience don’t set the bar too high in this maiden hurdle so it may be worth siding with INVICTUS WORLD to make a winning start over hurdles. He didn’t need to improve to open his account at the third attempt in bumpers at Navan on his final start and he is bred to appreciate this step up in trip. Jem In Em and Bleu d’Enfer both disappointed on their most recent outings, but warrant respect on their earlier form.

14:00 – Universal Folly

UNIVERSAL FOLLY shaped with promise on his chasing debut at Doncaster in November, beaten only by one who was making it two from two over fences, but he went the wrong way from that effort when beaten before stamina came into play at Kelso in December. However, he has since won back over hurdles, and is on the same mark now back in this sphere, so is worth another chance to build on the promise of his chase debut. Paul Nicholls won this race last year, so Huelgoat is much respected back from a break.

14:30 – Ashington

ASHINGTON is a capable performer on his day and he is threatening to come good for this yard, attracting support fitted with a first-time visor at Sedgefield last time and finding only one too good. He battled on all the way to the line on that occasion after being headed and, now back down to his last winning mark, he seems sure to launch another bold bid now with cheekpieces replacing the visor. Dreams of Home, who won this race last year, may emerge as the biggest threat now he’s dropped to a career-low mark.

15:00 – Hitching Jacking

HITCHING JACKING has won two of his four starts over hurdles and he improved further in defeat on handicap debut at Uttoxeter last month, edged out in the closing stages only by a serial winner. That form gives him a big chance on these terms now moving into listed company and there is a good chance he will progress again now having his stamina stretched even further. Makin’yourmindup is a danger and the unexposed Regal Blue can’t be ignored either following his impressive debut success.

15:30 – Pink Legend

PINK LEGEND bounced back to her best when resuming winning ways in a similar event at Exeter in February before running a cracker to finish third in the Mares’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on her next start. She took advantage of a drop in class when getting her head back in front in a two-mile handicap back at Cheltenham last week and she looks the one to beat again turned out quickly and significantly back up in trip. Brides Hill was pulled up in a Grade 1 last time, but is better than that, and will appreciate the drop in grade.

16:05 – Starlyte

This looks pretty trappy and the suggestion is STARLYTE, who acquitted herself well in a higher-grade handicap at Musselburgh last month and both this drop back in trip and 2 lb lower mark will help her resume winning ways now back on her last winning mark. Maimie’s Magic shouldn’t be judged too harshly on her last tqo starts and remains of interest having made a good start in handicaps but Rockonsoph is second choice on the back of a creditable effort at Ayr.

16:35 – Something Golden

Plenty in with a chance and it could just pay to side with SOMETHING GOLDEN. He’s acquitted himself well in hitting the frame on all three starts in handicaps and, still unexposed at this sort of trip, it would come as no surprise to see him go well from a career-low mark. The selection’s stablemate Lastofthecosmics and Fortcanyon head up the dangers, whilst Theirshegoes requires a market check on handicap debut.
