Frank Hickey’s ITV Racing Tips

13:05 Chepstow – Fugitif
13:20 Kempton – Lac De Constance
13:40 Chepstow – Comfort Zone
13:55 Kempton – Get A Tonic
14:10 Chepstow – Just A Dime
14:30 Kempton – Edwardstone
14:50 Chepstow – The Galloping Bear

13:05 Chepstow – Fugitif

Venetia Williams has won this six times in the last 10 years. She has Enzo D’airy entered who won here at the beginning of the month and got 6lb for that win.

I can’t get away from Fugitif though. Richard Hobson’s horses weren’t running well last season but things are better this year with Riders On the Storm and Lord Du Mesnil running well this season and Saint Xavier landing a touch at Haydock. Fugitif did manage two wins at Worcester and Newcastle last season over 2m off 120 and 131 and was tried at Grade 1 level in the Scilly Isles.

He was well backed on reappearance at Cheltenham off 131 when 2nd to Amarillo Sky. He finished strongly that day suggesting that he wanted to go back up in trip and the winner won again next time at Newbury.

13:20 Kempton – Lac De Constance

Lac De Constance was beaten in two bumpers but was 3-3 over hurdles including a listed hurdle at Exeter. He looked really good on his chase debut at Kempton over 2m2f last month winning by 20l. Skelton has a high opinion of the horse and think he will be able to serve it up to Boothill.

13:40 Chepstow – Comfort Zone

I thought Perseus Way ran a cracker at Cheltenham on his hurdles debut when very weak in the market suggesting the run was badly needed. Went off 25/1 when he was around 6/1 the day before.

I’ll side with Comfort Zone. He’s 86 rated on the flat for Joseph and he was impressive at Navan on hurdles debut when winning by 6l. The 2nd won at Fairyhouse during the week.

He Ran in the Grade 3 at Fairyhouse just a week later and I don’t think the fact the race developed into a sprint which played to his strengths. A stronger gallop would really suit him and I wouldn’t rule him out being a Triumph contender come March.

13:55 Kempton – Get A Tonic

Get A Tonic was a good novice hurdler last season, winning three, but also being beaten 3l by Marie’s Rock at Warwick and 3rd to Hillcrest and I Am Maximus at Cheltenham. She ran a cracker on her reappearance in the Betfair Exchange Stayers Handicap Hurdle at Haydock when 2nd to Botox Has off a mark of 133.

You would think that will be form that will work out and the 5th Complete Unknown did winning a handicap chase on Thursday at Ffos Las. She’s gone up 4lbs to 137 but that is the strongest form on offer here by a long way.

14:10 Chepstow – Just A Dime

Just A Dime won two point to points and won his hurdles debut at Exeter in March over 3m when beating Flementide and Trelawne (Won a handicap off 124 last month and now rated 130).

Just A Dime was getting 7lbs off both of them that day but that run still makes his opening handicap mark of 119 look lenient. He was 2nd on reappearance at Carlisle over shy of two and a half miles, where he shaped like the run was needed.

14:30 Kempton – Edwardstone

You can’t oppose Edwardstone after that Tingle Creek win where he was hugely impressive. Nube Negra is the danger but I do think he is best fresh and Edwardstone has already achieved more.

14:50 Chepstow – The Galloping Bear

The Galloping Bear runs off the same mark as his Grand National Trial win at Haydock where he was subsequently disqualified. He was really strongly punted that day and was incredibly strong at the finish that day. The main danger is the ground. As long as the rain hits the track and the ground is soft or worse, I think he will take an awful lot of beating.
