EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS is a useful handicap hurdler who has thrived since switched to the Flat, completing an AW hat-trick in a valuable conditions race at Newcastle (2m) in April. However, he was out of his depth in the Gold Cup next time and today’s handicap debut in this sphere demands another personal best.
15:50 Leicester – Arclight (Daily Record, Garry Owen)
ARCLIGHT is a sister/half-sister to four winners at up to 1m2f. Going up in trip today for a yard enjoying a fine summer with 3yos. Isn’t fully exposed and has to enter calculations despite a 3lb rise.
16:10 Goodwood – Sirona (On The Nose, Expert Eye)
SIRONA has an appealing middle-distance pedigree and she made a debut full of promise when bolting up at Beverley nine days ago, forging clear from over 1f out. Hard to pin down but she could be useful at least and has to be high on the list.
19:10 Galway – Stellar Storm (Ian Gaughran)
STELLAR STORM put up mildly encouraging efforts both starts in maidens this summer, still looking a work in progress when staying on over this trip at Bellewstown last time. Blinkered now for handicap debut and the dark horse of the race although hasn’t raced on an easy surface.
