Most of these have a point to prove. Flying Verse and On Time (in that order) are two of the likelier candidates but this might be the opportunity for JOEY STEEL to return to form.

15:40 Brighton – Wendells Lad

Most of the runners come with risks attached in this tricky race but it might be worth siding with WENDELL’S LAD, who is unexposed in handicaps and looks interesting with Hollie Doyle booked on this step back up to 1m2f. The pick of the opposition could be Electress, who is well treated if she can get back near her best on her first run for Archie Watson.

16:40 Galway – Big Island

Any further rain could help BIG ISLAND, a course winner on the Flat on heavy last October and relatively unexposed over hurdles. Montel Glory and Just Jacob are dual winners in recent months and capable of getting into the money again. Despite lacking a recent outing Bonnie Kellie and Indie Belle could be given a chance on last season’s best form. Ben Vrackie was very smart on the Flat and might just be capable of a resurgence.

16:50 Perth – Misscarlett

The suggestion in an unappealing race is MISSCARLETT who has won over 2m7f and has run creditably on her two most recent runs over hurdles. Although unproven at this trip Ayr Of Elegance looks her main threat.
