WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

13:20 – Ivory Madonna

Only three of these have previous experience and it’s hard to get away from IVORY MADONNA, who stepped up considerably on her debut effort when third to the two market leaders in the Group 3 Albany. She ideally needs to be quicker away from the stalls but she is taken to get off the mark back at maiden level. Starmas and newcomer Canadiansmokeshow look the main dangers.

13:50 – Zechariah

Masekela’s emergence in fourth place in the Derby promises much but that’s not the only eyecatching performance in this field and ZECHARIAH is preferred following his agonising last-gasp defeat in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Al Qareem was fourth in that race but still ran with a lot of credit, given the pace he set and the way he kept on, and he may pose the chief threat to the selection. The field also contains the Lingfield Derby Trial runner-up Walk Of Stars and King George V Handicap runner-up Deauville Legend, so there’s major interest almost everywhere you look.

14:25 – Persian Force

Coventry runner-up PERSIAN FORCE holds leading form claims and can provide the Hannon stable with a tenth win in this race. There can be optimism that Windsor Castle winner Little Big Bear will be fine now he’s back up in trip and he is a standout danger. Improvement is needed from Newbury novice winner Mysterious Night but this well-bred Godolphin colt should have more left in the locker.

15:00 – Ingra Tor

A competitive handicap in which the draw could easily play its part. The last ten winners have emerged from stalls 16, 12, 20, 8, 19, 3, 15, 16, 15 and 3 so it may pay to side with those in the top half of the draw, especially with confirmed front-runner Twelfth Knight being housed in box 12. Khanjar is a well-regarded sort who is likely to be popular given the form of the Haggas yard and he has strong claims, despite a 9lb rise, but it’s worth giving another chance to INGRA TOR. Mick Channon’s colt was bitterly disappointing behind Harry Three at York but the way he comfortably beat that rival on the Rowley Mile course in April is still fresh in the mind. Gisburn (who also disappointed in the York race), Deodar and Le Beau Garcon are others to consider.

15:35 – Yibir

Mostahdaf is reliable and ran up to form when stepped up to this trip at Royal Ascot last time. YIBIR has run to higher ratings on three occasions, however, and although none of those were in Britain and there’s no denying he has a quirky side, Charlie Appleby’s charge is preferred. Living Legend represents the Johnston stable which has upset the form with similar types in this race before.

16:10 – Albahr

Frankie Dettori and the Gosdens are reunited with Mighty Ulysses, who has fine prospects judged on his St James’s Palace run (in front of Berkshire Shadow). However, the suggestion at bigger odds is ALBAHR, who thrived on turf last year, gets no penalty for his Grade 1 success at Woodbine and whose defeat at the Dubai Carnival in January is easily excused on account of the dirt surface. The Acropolis looks best of the remainder.

16:40 – Enforced (NAP)

Charlie Appleby has won the last two runnings of this and he has good claims with Noble Dynasty and Echo Point. Success for either wouldn’t surprise but preference is for ENFORCED (nap), who is firmly on the upgrade following wins at Brighton and over this C&D and who hails from the in-form Roger Varian yard. Evocative Spark looks best of the remainder.
