Don’t know what a NAPs table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets). The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the table. Let’s get to the bets…
13:30 Sunday Sovereign (Daily Telegraph, Marlborough)
SUNDAY SOVEREIGN was inconsistent last season and down the field on last month’s reappearance at Musselburgh. However, he may have needed that run and he won here (5.5f, good) last August on his sole course visit. Also effective on soft/good to soft. An interesting contender now back here.
14:05 Outgate (Racing Post, Lambourn)
OUTGATE was a good second in 3-year-old handicap at the Newmarket Craven meeting (1m, good) last month, picking up where he’d left off last autumn. Has largely progressive RPRs and may well continue on an upward curve. Strong profile.
14:40 Mr McCann (On The Nose, Expert Eye)
MR McCANN is a Manor House colt who proved useful last term under the care of Tom Dascombe, making all for ready success in Epsom conditions race (8.5f, good) on final start. Now goes in tongue-tie and has middle-distance winners in his pedigree. Should be well primed for this occasion and commands respect.
15:10 Albaflora (Racing Post, RP Ratings)
ALBAFLORA goes well fresh having scored first time out in each of her two seasons of racing, impressive in Listed grade at Ascot (1m4f, soft) on the 2021 reappearance. Nearly bagged Group 1 honours back at same venue on final start (went down narrowly) and was runner-up in the Yorkshire Oaks before that. Top rated and commands major respect on seasonal debut.
