13:30 Chester – Night On Earth

Look Out Louis is the one that first caught the eye. He’s only had one run here and was a winner over 6f when he bounced out and made all the running. He’s improved since and is very consistent. He doesn’t normally lead and can take a bit of a pull. He was second to Twilight Calls at Newmarket at the Craven Meeting which is solid form. The more I look at it though, the more I think Look Out Louis might struggle to head off Night On Earth in the early strides. He’d been racking up the wins on the all weather and ran at least as well at Newmarket in the same race Look Out Louis was second in, as he kept on pretty well to be beaten by a length and a half off a mark of 95 and races off the same mark here. He’s drawn one outside Look Out Louis in stall four and in the battle to the first bend, he might have the upper hand which might make all the difference.

13:50 Worcester – Gallow Ford

An interesting little contest and there could be some value in it. Gallow Ford has not run over fences but is an Irish point winner and has shown plenty over hurdles. He was off for a year before finishing last of four at Ffos Las last time out. There was a lot of promise in the run and looked the likeliest winner before getting tired late in the day and that will have put him spot on for this. These should be his conditions and a mark of 110 is very fair on his hurdles form.

14:05 Chester – City Runner

The only sticking point with City Runner is that he’s gone up 5lbs for getting beaten last time out but the Esher Cup tends to be a strong handicap. He’s going to be really well suited by this track. He’s drawn in stall 2 so he’ll have no problem getting to the front.

14:40 Chester – Cresta

Cresta is the best horse in the race but he got really lit up last time out in a messy race. The fact he was supported for that is a good sign and Martyn Meade’s got his horses running well in the last couple of weeks. If the hood does its job and settles him down, then Cresta will take all the beating.

15:10 Chester – Albaflora

It’s good to see a decent-sized field. I’m a massive fan of Albaflora, I really like this mare. She almost won too well at Ascot first time out last season and the form worked out really well. I don’t think she wants to go to the track that often, she’s very good when fresh and she’s clearly easy enough to get fit. I’d very confident about her being ready for this. She’s the best horse in the race at the weights and will win comfortably.

15:40 Chester – Enfranchise (NAP)

My best bet of the day and I’m not concerned about a bad draw. Enfranchise is a really well-handicapped filly. She’s had a fair bit of racing this season but she’s just a late developer. She ran her best-ever race last time out in a really hot contest at Brighton when second to the progressive Mystic Wells – and they pulled seven lengths clear of some quite good fillies. Enfranchise goes in here off the same mark as the new one hasn’t kicked in yet. I think she’s 14lbs well in. She’s really taking off and can improve. She’s also got Group 1 pedigree but is only just hitting her straps now.
