Narrow preference is for Donald McCain’s runner, who is up 4lbs for winning last time but can do even better granted a sound surface.

It would be no surprise to see a much better display from Sonning this time, but he didn’t look a natural on his hurdling debut and may be worth opposing at likely cramped odds. Myboymax and OUTBACK BOY bring fair Flat form into this and may be able to take advantage should the likely favourite underperform again. The latter has the higher Flat rating of the two and is marginally preferred.
13:20 Give Me A Moment
A sounder surface would surely see Pay The Woman in a better light than on her chasing debut and she is respected along with Mill Race King, who is returning from a break. However, top weight GIVE ME A MOMENT (NAP) has done enough on his last two starts to suggest he can take care of these rivals. Pay The Woman may give him most to do.
13:55 Minella Trump
The prolific MINELLA TRUMP epitomises the fantastic season Donald McCain is enjoying, and the seven-year-old is taken to land the seven-timer. He won’t have it all his own way under a 10lbs penalty, however, if the useful hurdler Ask Paddington takes to fences at the first attempt.
14:30 Minella Plus
The Donald McCain-trained MINELLA PLUS won in good style over 1m 7f at Musselburgh last time and his useful pedigree suggests he’ll be even better at this trip. Martin Keighley does well here and perhaps the hurdling newcomer Brianna Rose will be the chief danger, ahead of Well Educated.
15:05 Cracking Find
Stamina remains a doubt, but CRACKING FIND ran really well over 3m at Wetherby recently, fading only after the final fence. He could strip fitter for that first outing since May. He is the selection ahead of another two-time course winner in Reve, who won at Ludlow last time out. Red Giant also arrives in good form and is respected.
15:35 Shuil Donn
Better could have been expected from SHUIL DONN on last month’s stable debut at Cheltenham, but that was a warm race and the possible settling effect of a first-time hood could help him recapture the promise of his debut second at Cork in April. The Donald McCain-trained River Walk is from a useful family and is feared most ahead of fellow newcomers Burrows Hall and Hermes Le Gris.
