This is an interesting race and it’s worth noting how highly Andre Fabre has spoken of Raclette. She’s won both of her outings, but I’d rather see a bit more substance to her runs before we talk about her in the way Fabre did. She’s a short price too so I’ll take her on with Agartha. It looks like the step up in trip will suit and she’s won on soft ground too. If the extreme conditions come, she’ll handle it. She’s got the most impressive form and that’ll do for me!
Ancient Rome is definitely the one to beat here as this isn’t the strongest of heats. He was beaten on his debut but he just needed some experience. Since then he’s won three out of three without getting into second gear. He has a win on heavy ground too.
Dermot Weld can finally win his first Arc with Tarnawa. She took a spell off and returned at Leopardstown in August, where she beat Silence Please. She then finished second behind St Mark’s Basilica in a brilliant race at the same track in September. She’s won on soft so if the weather worsens it won’t be a problem. She ticks the most boxes and is the most solid option. Christophe Soumillon is on board too which is always a good thing.
This is a wide open race but I’m siding with Ambition, who has only had two races this season. She was only beaten a couple of lengths by Tarnawa last season. She’s been trained up for this and she’s ready for the heavy ground. This has been the target all season and she can spring a shock.
Suesa is the deserving favourite but she’s been done no favours by the draw, where she’s out in stall 12. Glass Slippers is in nine which is slightly better and she has her main market rival outside of her. She’ll be fine with the ground and Glass Slippers is the more solid option out of the two.
