17:50 – Canal Rocks
Most of these are decidedly risky. Rodin should go well in a pretty ordinary race but it might be worth taking CANAL ROCKS to improve on his existing form for this yard, as he won and was a close second in his only two C&D runs and this looks his best chance of the year so far. Afta Party would have been interesting under Simon Walker had he not been so unconvincing at Lingfield last week and Diffident Spirit, ahead of Lockdown Dream, look the next-best options after Rodin.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
18:20 – The Wizard Of Eye
Robjon has the best form but he has now been beaten three times on the bounce and one or two of these have the potential to improve past him. Deacs Delight ran a nice race at Chepstow but THE WIZARD OF EYE perhaps achieved that bit more behind a good horse at Salisbury.
18:50 – Baby Bay
This looks weaker than the race in which BABY BAY was never far away here 16 days ago and we know she goes on this ground. Full Of Beans could be the danger unless there’s something decent lurking amongst the newcomers.
19:20 – Badlands
Hanging so badly left at Brighton last time was not entirely an aberration for BADLANDS, as he’d also hung that way when winning here the time before but that was to a much smaller extent and he makes appeal on the winning form, with a good chance too that 1m2f will suit him on today’s handicap debut for a new stable. Anmaat is equally unexposed and therefore feared most. Encourage will probably be on the premises.
19:50 – Dantora
A useful-looking novice event. Poet Of Life and Alhammaam, in that order of preference, are big players on these terms but DANTORA has lots of potential and is taken to defy a penalty for his Windsor success. The selection was impressive on that occasion and is evidently well regarded, having been put in the Voltigeur. Fourth choice Western Alliance is open to further improvement.
20:20 – Forever William
Alan King’s FOREVER WILLIAM (nap) made a pleasing start to his handicap career when third at Sandown and he might be even better suited by this softer ground. He edges preference over Lion Face, another one of the least exposed contenders. Arthalot needs respecting also, while First Charge could be a reviver now in blinkers.
20:50 – Lordsbridge Boy
The 5yo LORDSBRIDGE BOY certainly deserves a break having been mugged in three of his last four starts and he looks sure to give his backers a run for their money. With Cherish perhaps better at 5f than 6f, it is Hot Chesnut who is feared most after finishing strongly for third on her handicap debut at Newmarket. Airshow and Al Asef are others with claims.
