Although he has something to prove after pulling too hard in three runs over hurdles last season, KEEP ROLLING has been found a winnable race on his reappearance and should be good enough. My Last Oscar showed some promise on his hurdling debut and could be the main danger, while Lockdown Leader and Mozzaro should do better now they go jumping.

12:55 Undersupervision

Of those to have run over hurdles, Everything Now should have most to offer given that this step up in distance should suit. However, point winners Ranieri and UNDERSUPERVISION may have more potential and ready preference is for Nigel Twiston-Davies’s 4yo, who can go some way to repaying his £130,000 purchase fee.

13:25 Red River

Tobefair was the best of these over hurdles but he hasn’t sparkled on his two appearances this season and his chasing record is very unconvincing. Preference is for RED RIVER, who has been lightly raced since his very promising novice hurdle season in 2017-18 but ran well enough for long enough over fences at Exeter last month to suggest significant ability remains. Fado Des Brosses is better than he showed on his chasing debut and may also feature.

13:55 Subcontinent

All the runners can be given chances of sorts. It will be interesting to see if the money comes again for Furiously Fast but narrow preference is for SUBCONTINENT, who ran well to be runner-up on only his second chase outing and should have more to offer. Guy is respected despite a suspicion that better ground may be preferable, while Eclair Surf should also be thereabouts after a promising chasing debut over C&D.

14:30 Song Of The Hunter

Runner-up on his recent reappearance, Demopolis is feared, but the most interesting one is SONG OF THE HUNTER (nap), who jumped really well when winning on his hurdling debut in March and could be nicely treated on this first handicap start. Mongol Emperor could be a threat now he tries his luck at handicapping.

15:05 Seymor Sox

The obvious starting point is Sexy Lot, who has won easily on her last two starts. She may well be up to defying a 15lb higher mark but is no certainty to do so and is unlikely to represent much value. Similar sentiments apply to the penalised Thibault, so a chance is taken with SEYMOUR SOX, a C&D winner off 5lb lower and much better than he showed on his final start last season. Others to consider in a deeper race than first appeared are Wilde Spirit, Winged Isle, Avantgardist and The Wire Flyer.

15:40 Lockdown Lady

Plenty of guesswork is involved with several newcomers on show. Miss Gold Den and Picara’s Promise may be best of those to have run, but Ballybough Mary, Blue Luna, Merry Mistress and LOCKDOWN LADY are interesting debutantes and the last named, who hails from a winning family, may be worth chancing.
