Valencia CF v Chelsea FC: Group H - UEFA Champions League

Chelsea v Watford

Saturday, 8pm, Sky Sports Premier League

The last match of Saturday’s EPL brings us the clash between Chelsea v Watford. With only six rounds of fixtures left to play, every three points is vital and those on offer here are no different.

While Chelsea are looking to secure a Top 4 Finish, Watford are stuck in a battle at the other end of the table and every point they can get is crucial if they want to play top flight football again next season.

The Hornets have only collected a single point since the return, with that being in the first match against Leicester. They’ve failed to show up against Brighton and Southampton, leaving them a single point clear of the relegation zone. Chelsea’s most recent appearance was a defeat to their London rivals West Ham which put a spanner in the works of their European ambitions, a rather large one considering how good a return they were having up to that.

With Chelsea back on home turf and looking to put that defeat to West Ham behind them, I can see them being the far more dominant team here and Watford will struggle to gain anything here.

Frank Lampard’s side hasn’t been short of goals and that scoring form should continue here, so the bet of Chelsea (-1) at just above Even money looks like a decent shot. I’d expect at least two goals from Chelsea in a fixture like this and, even if they concede, you’d expect them to push on again and maintain that two-goal cushion.

Although the Stamford Bridge Blues haven’t been lacking in the attack, they’re strikers haven’t been producing what’s expected of them so far, with the constant changing of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud in the starting line-up limiting both strikers’ opportunities to build some confidence in front of goal.

That being said, their wingers have been flying the flag the past few matches and with Watford being vulnerable down the wings, I can see them playing an important role again. The way things are looking, the line-ups won’t change from the last day and Willian and Christian Pulisic will be taking up these positions.

Both players have provided serious threats recently and I like the look of both our Power Prices involving the players.  “Christian Pulisic to have 3 or more shots on target” has been boosted from 7/2 to 5/1. Pulisic has a serious eye for the goal and loves getting a shot away so I don’t think that’ll stop here.

Willian grabbed a brace against West Ham, one being a penalty and the other a free-kick, so our Power Price of him to score first of 7/1 looks appetising with the open play threat he carries added to his set-pieces.

My final bet for this clash would be Abdoulaye Doucoure to be booked at around 11/4. With nine yellows in 30 appearances this season so far, he’s not afraid to put his foot in, and with Chelsea sure to be applying constant pressure to the Watford defence, I feel like Doucoure is going to have to have to relieve the pressure with some not-so-well-timed challenges, so this price looks like good value.
