Hector Bellerin and his trees… how Arsenal star’s campaign will be helped by Paddy Power

Since the Premier League has returned, an area the size of a football pitch is destroyed twice a week by Arsenal’s defence.

Last month Hector Bellerin made the noble offer of planting 3,000 trees for every Arsenal win post-lockdown.

Unfortunately, the whole thing looked to be falling flat on its arse after the Gunners sunk to miserable defeats in their first two matches back in action at Manchester City and Brighton.

Arsenal couldn’t defend their goal, let alone the planet, so Paddy vowed to step in and lend a hand.

Bellerin’s pledge to plant 3,000 trees was made in partnership with nonprofit One Tree Planted, who are on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees.

And we’ve now joined forces with them too in a bid to make sure Arsenal’s woes at least do some good where needed in the world.

We’ll be donating 6,000 trees for every game the Gunners DON’T win for the rest of the campaign.

Yep, we know. This could get pricey.

Granted, they’ve since beaten Southampton, edged past Sheffield United in the FA Cup and thrashed Norwich since that nightmare return to action. But this is Arsenal we’re talking about, so chaos can’t be far away – particularly with Wolves, Leicester and a certain other side from north London all still to play this season.

The initiative with One Tree Planted will support reforestation and ecological restoration in the Amazon Rainforest. The aim is to make a major impact for nature, wildlife, and local communities in the area, as well as making long-term improvements to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts. Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs and restore biodiversity.

Fans can also participate via Hector’s forest fundraiser and learn more at onetreeplanted.org.
