Real wonga for Wenger Real move – Odds shorten as Madrid lose patience

We've cut the odds on Wenger taking over from Julen Lopetegui to 6/1, in from 14/1...

Real Madrid’s continuing crisis means Europe’s most eligible managers are on alert – with Antonio Conte (5/2) the favourite.

But, today, as Real Madrid lost to Levante – their fourth defeat in five matches – our traders were forced to drastically cut the odds on Arsene Wenger heading to the Bernabeu, from 14/1 to 6/1, more than doubling the likelihood of the move.

It puts him as third favourite in the betting for Julen Lopetegui’s successor, behind Conte and Mauricio Pochettino (3/1).

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “He won’t need his big coat in Spain – which is probably a good thing, as the zipper’s knackered.

“Arsene, though, evidently isn’t and, after some cryptic comments midweek, we’ve seen a Real run of bets on him.”

5/2 Conte
3/1 Pochettino
6/1 Wenger
6/1 Guti
16/1 Max Allegri
16/1 Santiago Solari
20/1 Jose Mourinho
