Liverpool FC legend and Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson has everything crossed for a Manchester United win on Sunday. Yes, you did read that right. Thommo’s hoping his old friends from Old Trafford can cause a shock Manchester City in the Manchester derby and blow the title race wide open again.
Table toppers City host United at The Etihad in this weekend’s main event at 4.30pm on Sunday. So, with Thommo wearing a United scarf and showing off his new Cristiano Ronaldo tattoo, here’s his Manchester City v Manchester United tips.
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
It’s not often you get a Liverpudlian like myself wanting a favour from Manchester United! I don’t think it’s going to happen this weekend, as much as I’d like it to.
I do think Manchester City will Win this. Having said that, United have won on their last three visits to The Etihad in all competitions which is quite good. And, Manchester United are on their best unbeaten run of the season, eight games, winning four of those.
They’ve lost only one of the last 15, Manchester United. So maybe, quietly, things are turning around for Manchester Untied. But, listen to this, Manchester City’s Premier League record in games following their last 20 Premier League defeats reads; played 20, won 19, drawn one, lost none.
They’ve scored 67 goals and only conceded 10. That tells me that they’re wound up after every defeat and they’re going to score. So, I see no reason why Manchester City shouldn’t win this one, though United have a good record.

But, because of all that, I think it’s going to be very, very tight and I do see Both Teams to Score. I’m going for Manchester City to Win 2-1 and Raheem Sterling to Score Anytime.
