Paddy Power ambassador and all-round good egg Phil Thompson is back in the saddle to try and find us some winners in the Premier League on Sunday. To kick us off he’s turning his steely gaze towards Newcastle v Aston Villa in the early kick offs.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS
The Toon have seen some serious improvement under Eddie Howe since the transfer window and have big hopes of staying in the league now while Villa have been pretty handy on the road since Steve Gerrard replaced Dean Smith. There’s plenty of moving parts with this one but which way’s Thommo going in his Newcastle v Aston Villa tips?
2pm: Newcastle v Aston Villa

It’s another one this weekend that’s difficult to call. It’s going to be very, very tight, I feel. Back-to-back wins for Newcastle and they’re out of the bottom three for the first time since October.
They’re unbeaten in three at home and everything should be buzzing for Newcastle. But it’s the same for Aston Villa as well. They’ve won three out of five away under Steven Gerrard so he’s got a nice balance to that side and one of those defeats was at Liverpool.

Don’t be backing the draw, guys, because Villa have not drawn any of their last 15 away in the Premier League. Philippe Coutinho has a good chance of scoring. He did get a bit of an injury in that midweek game but he’s scored two in three.
I’m looking at this and I think it’s going to be very, very tight. I’m coming down on the side of Aston Villa. I’ve just got a 1-0 victory for Villa. If Coutinho plays he’ll be feeling very confident. I’m going for Coutinho to Score Anytime but check the team sheet.
