West Ham endured a rocky 2022/23 campaign which ended with a sensational night in the Europa Conference League, beating Fiorentina 2-1 thanks to a last-gasp Jarrod Bowen winner and Premier League survival.

Despite having quite a lot of credit in the bank the expectations have raised at the London Stadium and a poor run could see the end for Moyes in the East End. So let’s have a look at some of the likely Next West Ham Manager contenders.
Julen Lopetegui
No doubt that if you were a West Ham fan you’d be eager to see former Real Madrid, Sevilla, Spain, and Wolves, manager Julen Lopetegui taking over from David Moyes. As a player he won a La Liga title with Real Madrid and as manager has won youth titles with Spain’s Under 19 and 21 teams, as well as the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020.
Stylewise, Lopetegui likes his team to switch between a 4-1-4-1 and a 4-3-3 meaning much of the grunt work will be done by his midfielders and wingback, positions where West Ham certainly have plenty of talent.
Graham Potter
Things didn’t go to plan for Graham Potter at Chelsea and he was axed after a few months in charge at Stamford Bridge thanks to Todd Boehly’s real-life Football Manager game.
Despite that, Potter’s stock is still relatively high and if he could do a similar job to what he did at Brighton, West Ham fans would be over the moon.
Gary O’Neil
Could Wolves’ manager Gary O’Neil be tempted away from Molineux for life in London town? It would seem unlikely but after the season Wolves have had in the Premier League this campaign, West Ham fans would certainly be happy to have him at the London Stadium, especially since he played 56 games for the Irons between 2010-2013.
What make O’Neil an interested prospect is that he isn’t married to a style of football and the focus rather seems to be on improving the players he has on hand and trusting them to do the business on the pitch rather than drilling tactics into them. Hammers fans would take that.
Michael Carrick
Former West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick impressed with Championship side Middlesbrough last season before losing in the playoffs. As a former player he’s be a huge hit for fans of the Hammers but is he the right man for the job?
