Late Gibraltar miracle nets punter £22,000 from 50p Lucky 15

The men from The Rock had a customer from Manchester laughing all the way to the bank at the weekend…

Since being welcomed into UEFA in 2013 and FIFA in 2016, Gibraltar have mainly fulfilled the unenviable role of international football’s whipping boys for a while now.

However, that all changed on Sunday, as an 88th minute winner from Notts County’s Liam Walker handed them a historic victory over Latvia at the Victoria Stadium.

The win was their first ever as an official FIFA member and we reckon they won’t mind at all that it come from a lucky deflection on a free-kick. The goal also made Liam Walker the country’s record top scorer, with a whopping three strikes to his name.

However, it wasn’t just Latvia who were humbled by the goal, our traders took a kicking as well! That’s because the men from The Rock were massive 70/1 outsiders before kick-off and one retail punter from Manchester scored over £22,000 from a 50p Lucky 15 thanks to the late, late miracle victory.

That wasn’t the only ballsy call our victor made though, as he also somehow called that Sevilla Atletico would break a 10-game losing streak away at Real Zaragoza in the Spanish Segunda División at 8/1.

Elsewhere, our crafty customer picked AZ Alkmaar Youth to down Ajax away from home and, in keeping with his lower league theme, his final selection was for Portuguese minnows Famalicao to score a victory at Academico Viseu in the Segunda Liga.

That all made for a super Sunday for our punter as he turned a measly £7.50 stake into a total win of £22,229.50.
