The Aviva stadium is the venue this Saturday as the two top ranked teams in world rugby face off in what many believe will be the championship decider. France are the only major nation yet to taste defeat to Andy Farrell’s Ireland, and in the last two years Ireland have come up just short, going down to a six-point defeat in the Stade de France and a two-point loss at home in the Aviva the year previous.
France only just scraped over the line last week with a narrow victory over annual whipping boys Italy, with French coach Fabian Galthié slating his players for their performance on the opening day. With Johnny Sexton being confirmed fit for the clash and coach Farrell wanting to finally get one over the French, Ireland will be ready to go.
I fully expect Farrell to have his troops ready for battle from the off on Saturday. Like against Wales, expect Ireland to lay down an early marker and put the French on their heels from the off. Having Sexton fit and ready is key for this Irish side, so I’m looking at the double market, Ireland to lead at half time and to win is the bet for me.

Although Keenan didn’t get over the whitewash last weekend, the Leinster man put in a stellar performance at fullback picking up the Man of the Match award. He’s in fantastic form at the moment and I would expect him to threaten the French line again this weekend. Keenan to score in the eighty minutes is the bet for me.
I believe Ireland will win Sunday, although it may be a close game I do expect them to cover the spread of -4. Sexton will be facing the French for the first time in three years and like in all of Ireland’s major wins he is instrumental in getting his team over the line. Add in the hunger of arrell to get his first win over the French and Les Blues’s poor showing last weekend and I believe Ireland will cover -4 on Saturday.
Since 2008, Scotland have only beaten Wales on two occasions. One thing Scotland are commonly known for is their inability to back up strong performances, so I’d expect Wales and Warren Gatland to come in on Saturday and cover the spread of +6.
Looking at England v Italy at 3pm on Sunday at Twickenham, I fancy England to cover the spread of -18. Although England were very poor last weekend, it’s worth noting that in the previous four meetings between these teams England have won the games with a 32 point average. I expect England to get it done on Sunday.
