Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

14:05 Naas – Verbal Sparring (The Irish Sun)

Jumping is a concern for potential supporters of VERBAL SPARRING. Still, he looks capable of winning off this mark if he can avoid errors of the sort that produced a fall here on his penultimate start and harmed his chance when he finished behind Red Striker at this venue last time. Top weight Answering does not look badly treated for his first handicap, and Soldante and Cheerful Chap also hold a realistic chance.

14:30 Ffos Las – Ghost Hunter (RP Ratings)

A case can be made for most of these but GHOST HUNTER appeals as a likely improver now going into handicap company so Warren Greatrex’s son of Milan gets the nod. The consistent Followango heads the list of dangers, although both Wonderweasle and Hermes Le Gris need factoring in too.

16:57 Newcastle – Extinction (Racing Post)

Midnight Lion bounced back to form here last Monday and remains well treated under a penalty, while Gastronomy (second choice) is also attractively handicapped, having done well in the circumstances when supported on his C&D comeback the same afternoon. The vote, though, goes to the lightly raced EXTINCTION who’s unexposed over this trip and whose comeback second three weeks ago has worked out well since.

17:30 Newcastle – Scarriff (Telegraph)

Money for the well-related Federated, who could never go the pace down to 7f on his handicap debut, would look significant in a weak handicap. Otherwise SCARRIFF is given the chance to build on last Monday’s big-priced C&D second (We Still Believe back in fourth), a much-improved effort on her second run back from 18 months on the sidelines.
