14:30 Casey West

This isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest, and CASEY WEST looks the way to go on the back of a career-best Clonmel success. This discipline should be fine for him and he arrives with potential. Gordon Elliott’s newcomer Wine An Dine could emerge as the chief danger ahead of last year’s winner Three By Two.

15:05 Montregard

Tom Lacey sends three over, with the pick being the J P McManus-owned MONTREGARD, who was having his only his fourth career start when winning a handicap at Wetherby last month with a bit up his sleeve, and he could have plenty more to come. Paddy’s Milestone is another low-mileage sort who surely has his best days ahead of him and is feared most having snuck in at the foot of the weights, while the other Stuart Crawford runner Al Kalila wasn’t far behind the selection at Wetherby and is also shortlisted.

15:40 Slade Steel

SLADE STEEL continued his rapid progress over hurdles when running out a good winner of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month, doing well in the circumstances having fluffed the last flight. He has the potential to rate higher still and can confirm form over recent Aintree one-two Mystical Power and Firefox. Tullyhill was a disappointment at the Festival, shouldn’t be underestimated, either.

16:15 Daddy Long Legs

DADDY LONG LEGS doubled his tally in ready fashion at Ludlow recently and, though that wasn’t much of a race, it’s his hurdling debut success that still sticks in the mind, so he remains a horse who could potentially be more talented than a mark of 135 would suggest. He gets the nod over stablemate Bialystok, with Toto Too another one to consider after making a winning start for his current yard.

16:50 King Rasko Grey

There are a host with appealing claims in this valuable bumper, but it is KING RASKO GREY who makes the most appeal before market clues. He represents the all-conquering Willie Mullins, who has been complementary about him, and he is seemingly the pick of Patrick Mullins. Heffay and Dino Roque are a couple of other interesting newcomers to monitor in the betting.

17:25 Dinoblue

DINOBLUE has come a long way in the last 12 months and following her fine effort at the Cheltenham Festival, she looks well placed to win at this meeting for the second season running. Banbridge is fresh and looks set for a big run in first-time cheekpieces, though Queen Mother one-two, Captain Guinness and Gentleman de Mee, are obvious players, too.

18:00 Montys Star

MONTYS STAR found only Fact To File too strong in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last month, impressing with his jumping, and he should still be relatively fresh after only three starts this season. He gets the vote over the progressive Spillane’s Tower and Embassy Gardens, who will be suited by the drop back in trip.

18:35 Unknown Entity

UNKNOWN ENTITY is of automatic interest given that he went close on his sole start between the flags and makes his debut for the powerful Willie Mullins yard. The hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. Colcannon and Putapoundinthejar are most appealing of those with experience in this sphere, while Balko D’ange has also show ability. There are several others to note in the betting, too, not least Attaho and Sutherland.
