Win Win Power made a successful start for Mick Appleby, a trainer who does so well with his recruits, when landing a classified stakes over course and distance on New Year’s Day and he followed up in a similar contest over seven furlongs here on Sunday. Win Win Power was strong at the finish last time, leaving the impression that he’ll benefit from stepping back up to a mile, and he still has more to offer for this yard. He can defy a penalty and complete the hat-trick on his return to handicap company.

This is not a strong race so it could be worth siding with newcomer Terry Two Jags who starts out with trainer Hugo Palmer in exceptional form. Highland Queen hasn’t been at her best the last twice but she has been given a chance by the handicapper and is now 3 lb lower than when a close-up third at Newcastle three starts ago. Highland Queen looks well treated on that form so could be worth chancing from this reduced mark. Jems Bond landed a gamble when winning in cosy style at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and appeals as a big danger.
