Fancy a shot at £20k at Glorious Goodwood today?

Goodwood 13:50 – Secret State

SECRET STATE is a 525,000g colt out of Jacqueline Quest and has won his last three since placing second on debut at Newmarket in the Wood Ditton. He won the King George V at Royal Ascot on handicap debut off 93 last time out and the second, Deauville Legend, won the Bahrain Trophy on his next start. There has been talk of the Great Voltigeur for him but runs here off a 7lb higher mark.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Goodwood 15:00 – Walbank

WALBANK sets a high standard with an excellent debut placing second to Noble Style at Ascot followed by a wide-margin win at York. He was the 7/4 favourite for the Norfolk and ran well in second after stumbling at the start and was only headed in the last half a furlong. Goodwood’s easier track should suit and my pick could prove tough to peg back!

Goodwood 15:35 – Baaeed

It’s really quite simple this one – BAAEED is far too good for these as he bids to take his perfect record to nine.

Goodwood 16:10 – Rousay

ROUSAY ran well here back in May when third behind Lawful Command in a race that has worked out well. She didn’t have the pace at a mile last time at Salisbury when staying on into fourth and followed up with a decent second over 10f at the same track behind an unexposed Sir Michael Stoute horse. I think Rousay will come home strong here.

Galway 17:40 – Flying Scotsman

A bit of a patchy profile but the FLYING SCOTSMAN did win twice on the Flat here two years ago off 73 over a mile and a half and then dropped back to a mile and won off a mark of 79. He hasn’t been a brilliant hurdler but did win a maiden at Navan, although it probably wasn’t the strongest. He was beaten behind Arcadian Sunrise but that was probably a stronger race than this. We have only seen him once at the Curragh in May on the Flat but you imagine Galway was on the agenda. He’s only five and is stepping up in trip which will suit. I think he’ll go well.

Galway 18:10 – Purple Mountain

PURPLE MOUNTAIN won at Galway in a maiden hurdle last year and she managed to win a Grade 3 at Tipperary. She disappointed twice after that – including a really strong handicap at Fairyhouse – but this is considerably down in grade. She’ll take a fair bit of beating.

Galway 18:40 – Fire Attack

It’s not impossible to carry 11st to victory in this but last year was the first one in a while. I like FIRE ATTACK, who carries 10st 10lbs and Shane Fitzgerald is a good claimer taking off 3lbs. He won his chase debut and unseated in the Grade 1 at Limerick behind Master McShee, he then ran OK behind Ciel De Neige – rated in the mid 150s – and I liked the way he travelled and jumped at Punchestown last time. It’s very competitive but Fire Attack has a bit of scope to be a bit better than a 144 horse.

Goodwood 15:35 – Baaeed
