13:30 Ascot Adventure
ASCOT ADVENTURE is lightly raced for his age and arrives on the back of a career-best effort when winning at Haydock last time. Once again, he was very strong at the finish kept to seven furlongs in a race where the first five home are all worth viewing in a positive light, and he can prove himself still ahead of the handicapper again following a 5 lb rise. The Attorney was a most likeable performer last term and should also prove competitive with a recent run under his belt.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
14:05 Bluelight Bay
This looks a good race with some likely newcomers on show, but BLUELIGHT BAY made an encouraging start to his career when runner-up to a potentially smart type over course and distance last month, and may prove hard to beat with improvement forthcoming. He knew his job, but displayed plenty of ability, and should be all the better for that initial experience now. Flag Flying, who is bred to be sharp, makes most appeal of the newcomers, but the market will clearly reveal more.
14:40 Dunnington Lad
DUNNINGTON LAD left the form of his debut well behind when opening his account at Windsor in April and that form was boosted when the runner-up won next time. He hasn’t progressed as expected from that, but faced a stiff task in listed company last time, and is very much the one to beat now in much calmers waters. What A Dude, who ran with credit in a maiden at Bath last time, may prove the biggest danger representing a yard that won the Woodcote at Epsom on Friday.
15:15 Smart Champion
SMART CHAMPION generally goes well at this track and he shaped well when narrowly beaten over this trip on his reappearance at Southwell in April. He was ridden much more aggressively than is usually the case on that occasion, boxing on all the way to the line, and he remains on a mark below his last winning one. That came over two years ago, but he has more races in him judging by his latest effort. Make My Day, who also shaped encouragingly returned to the Flat last time, makes most appeal of the remainder.
15:50 Indian Creek
INDIAN CREEK is now 2 lb below his last winning mark and arrives in good form having found only one too good on his last two starts. He pulled clear of the remainder with a subsequent winner at Windsor last time, so that form is solid, and he seems sure to launch another bold bid despite being 3 lb higher in the weights. This does look competitive, though, with Dream Composer and The Lamplighter heading the dangers.

16:20 Broadspear
BROADSPEAR showed ability in two starts last season and didn’t shape badly despite being beaten at odds-on at Thirsk in April. He still looked inexperienced on that occasion, and conceded first run on the winner, so he is probably best not judged too harshly on that performance. The step up in trip should bring about further improvement and he is well up to winning a race of this nature. Knight of Honour and Dancing Tango both have better days ahead of them, too, and should ensure Roger Varian’s colt doesn’t have things all his own way.
16:50 Meadram
A dual winner on the all-weather last year, MEADRAM caught the eye when third on his return at Lingfield in April, and is best not judged too harshly on his latest effort at that venue where he was forced wider than ideal on the home turn. He is equally effective on turf and appeals as still being on a workable mark. New Heights was a good winner at Sandwon last time and should remain competitive up just 2 lb in the weights.
