13:20 – Smokey Malone
SMOKEY MALONE has been in good form of late and he arrives here on the back of a creditable third in a mile-and-a-quarter handicap 12 days ago. He was beaten three and a quarter lengths on that occasion but can have his effort marked up as he was hampered over a furlong out. Stepping back up in trip will be no problem and he is on a fair mark having been eased 1 lb since his latest effort.

13:55 – Valsad
An encouraging second at Leicester on his only start at two, VALSAD also shaped with promise when fifth in a strong maiden at Newbury on his return last month. He took a slight step forward when runner-up at Salisbury last time, despite shaping like he would be suited by a stiffer test, and his form is comfortably the best on offer. He remains open to improvement and this looks like a good opportunity to get off the mark.
14:30 – Sulochana
SULOCHANA progressed well last term, winning her first two starts of the campaign before largely running creditably in defeat. Sulochana shaped with promise on her return at Salisbury last month, looking the likely winner when striking on three furlongs out but ultimately fading into fourth. In hindsight she may have hit the front a shade earlier than ideal, but that effort highlighted she is still on a competitive mark.
15:00 – Tibbie Dunbar
TIBBIE DUNBAR, a winner over hurdles at Exeter in November, was well backed on her return from a break at Bath last month and she ran well in second, splitting a pair of subsequent winners. Tibbie Dunbar was beaten half a length by Kalamity Kitty but the pair pulled four and a half lengths clear of the third, and that looks like a solid piece of form. She is still fairly handicapped after going up 4 lb in the weights and can go one better here.

15:30 – Say Grace
This is not a strong race and it might be worth siding with SAY GRACE, a largely reliable filly who won a Wolverhampton seller when last seen in February. She didn’t need to be at her best to capitalise on that opportunity, though it was to her credit that she put the race to bed quickly when asked.
16:00 – Giselles Izzy
GISELLES IZZY produced her best effort to date when a close-up fourth at Chelmsford on her handicap debut last time. She kept on nicely to get to within a length of the leader on that occasion and that performance suggests that she’s on a decent mark. She might be capable of raising her game slightly after only four starts.

16:35 – Arlecchino’s Gift
ARLECCHINO’S GIFT was only eighth at Wolverhampton last time but he shouldn’t be judged harshly on that effort as he was keeping on when denied a run entering the final furlong. Arlecchino’s Gift was a decisive winner at that venue in March, pulling two and a quarter lengths clear of his rivals, and he still looks fairly treated based on that form.
17:10 – Pettochside
PETTOCHSIDE may be 13 and clearly not as good as he was, but he retains plenty of enthusiasm and has performed with credit on both outings this term, finishing third at Epsom and Ascot. Those were better-quality events than the one he contests here, so he may be able to concede weight all round and register a popular success.
