13:15 – Salsada
Having been useful but tricky to load into the stalls on the Flat, SALSADA won in fine style on her hurdle debut at Sedgefield in October and can make it 2-2 in this code. Fellow previous hurdle winner Corrigeen Rock is the obvious danger on the back of a good second at Sandown.

13:45 – Johnny Boom
Three-time Flat winner JOHNNY BOOM is running in his first handicap hurdle and, with drying ground expected, there can be optimism he’ll improve upon what he’s shown in this code thus far. Olympe De Gouges is ahead of the handicapper after last Friday’s 25-1 win at Doncaster and she is second choice, ahead of the progressive Thunder Ahead.
14:20 – Iolani
Last year’s 9l winner IOLANI (nap) was well beaten in a handicap at Newcastle 17 days ago but there was the same outcome in that race 12 months ago, when also returning from a break, and there can be optimism he will again be a different proposition this afternoon. The novice Byzantine Empire has had a good season and is second choice now back on better ground, with the in-form Saryshagann next on the list ahead of Evita Du Mesnil.

14:55 – Liffeydale Dreamer
Sam England’s horses are running well and LIFFEYDALE DREAMER, who produced a string of solid performances on good ground last year, is taken to make a winning return from a break. The in-form Goodtimes Badtimes is second choice, although Moon King, Wynford and White Walker are others to consider in an open race.

15:30 – Island Mahee
This is open and there’s lots of interlinking form. ISLAND MAHEE won this 12 months ago on the back of a quiet run on unsuitably testing ground and history might repeat itself. Should the tongue-tie do anything for her, then Lizzie Loch could reverse recent course form with Millarville and Cancan.
16:05 – Garde Des Champs
Hold Onto The Line made a winning handicap debut over C&D last time out and this unexposed 5yo is open to further improvement. However, preference is for GARDE DES CHAMPS, a lightly raced handicap newcomer who was steadily progressive on good/good to soft ground until a blip on soft going last time out in January. He’s had wind surgery since.
