13:05 – Hollow Games

HOLLOW GAMES lost his unbeaten record when finishing third behind stablemate Ginto in the Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle last time but he emerged from that two-and-a-half mile Grade 1 with plenty of credit, simply shaping as if he needed more of an emphasis on stamina. The stoutly-bred Hollow Games looks sure to appreciate this step up to two-and-three-quarter miles and he can reverse form with Grand Jury, who finished a neck in front of him at Naas.

13:35 – Fil Dor

FIL DOR has won all three starts since joining Gordon Elliott and being sent hurdling and he was especially impressive when scoring in Grade 2 company over this course and distance last time. That was not a strong race for the grade, but it’s difficult to find fault with how Fil Dor got the job done, drawing seven lengths clear under a hands-and-heels ride. He is up against some promising rivals who are open to plenty of improvement but Fil Dor’s form is the best on offer and he is the percentage call.

14:10 – Riviere d’Etel

RIVIERE D’ETEL had to settle for second behind Ferny Hollow over this course and distance on Boxing Day and she should prove difficult to beat here if running to a similar level. Riviere d’Etel was an impressive winner on her first three starts over fences and she raised her game again last time, making a top-class rival dig deep. It’s true that Riviere d’Etel was in receipt of 13 lb on that occasion, but she also gets plenty of weight here – 7 lb from the five-year-old geldings and 9 lb from the older geldings. Riviere d’Etel is 7 lb clear at the head of Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings and it could take a high-class effort to beat her.

14:45 – Dunboyne

DUNBOYNE could never land a blow at Navan on his penultimate start having been held up in a race run at a modest gallop, and he also wasn’t seen to best effect here last time after meeting with trouble in running. On his latest start Dunboyne made good headway on the approach to the second-last flight and got himself into a challenging position. However, he met with interference soon after that hurdle and was shuffled back in the field. He was also hampered on the entrance to the straight, just as the leaders were setting sail for home, and that effectively put an end to his chance. It was eye-catching how well Dunboyne kept on into fifth, and that effort suggests he has much more to offer when getting better luck in running.

15:15 – Kemboy

Minella Indo could prove a class apart if running up to his best but his disappointing performance in the King George last time is a concern and it could be worth siding with KEMBOY, who arrives in better form. Minella Indo was pulled up in the King George after starting to struggle from a long way out, whereas Kemboy was an excellent third in the Savills Chase, showing that he’s still a top-class chaser. Kemboy landed this race last season and can retain his crown.

15:50 – Exit Poll

Exit Poll was in good form during the autumn, winning on a couple of occasions, including in a Grade 3 novice, and he ran well on his return from a short break when runner-up over this course and distance on Boxing Day. There was a lot to like about the way EXIT POLL moved through that race and he can arguably have his effort marked up a bit as it came at a time when Jessica Harrington’s team were struggling. Recent signs suggest that the yard’s form is starting to turn the corner and Exit Poll ought to give a good account.

16:25 – Facile Vega

Willie Mullins has won the last two editions of this Grade 2 bumper with Appreciate It and Kilcruit and he has strong claims again with Facile Vega. FACILE VEGA has a top-class pedigree, being by star sire Walk In The Park and out of the great mare Quevega, and he made the perfect start to his career when landing a bumper by six lengths here on Boxing Day. The runner-up has since given that form a boost by winning next time out, and Facile Vega looks like an excellent prospect.
