Big Bear Hug has strong form claims but she is up against a pair of once-raced rivals who appeal as having plenty more to offer. Cuban Beat made up a lot of ground quickly here on her debut and those exertions took their toll close home but it was still promising and her market prominence suggests she’s thought to be useful. She is feared but BELACQUA came from an unpromising position to make a winning debut at Lingfield and she can defy her penalty. There are some interesting newcomers to monitor in the betting too.

Boafo Boy retains potential and 7f should suit, while Sydney Street ran well last time and Berkshire Phoenix may benefit from today’s new trip and a break. The Charlie Appleby-trained pair MYTHICAL DANCER and Tangled Words look the two with most upside though and the former is marginally preferred on his AW debut.
17:00 – Asean Legend
Previous C&D winner Silverscape has more to offer but he will need to progress to defy a penalty. Khathak is bred to be smart but he has had a wind op ahead of his debut. ASEAN LEGEND has shown more than enough in his two starts to make him the one to beat and this looks a good opportunity to open his account.
17:30 – Western Writer
Base Note, Flag Of Truth, Nobel and Sky Legend are newcomers of some interest and the betting should provide clues. Barqi should leave his debut effort behind him in time but those comments also appy to WESTERN WRITER and he can show the benefit of his recent Chelmsford debut.

18:00 – Sea Speedwell
Rabat has the highest RPR on offer and she may improve for an additional furlong but she has had a few chances and could prove vulnerable again. Bonica and Queen’s Fair are respected newcomers but the key race could be the one in which SEA SPEEDWELL finished ahead of three of today’s rivals here last month. While all four of them shaped with varying degrees of promise, there could be the most improvement from the selection. Teardrop Rock could emerge as the main danger.
18:30 – Celtic Empress
There was money about for Bagatelle before her impressive win in a weaker race here last month and it could be that it has just taken a while for things to fall into place for her. She will need more to come out on top here though and both CELTIC EMPRESS and Starry Eyes are preferred. Marginal preference is for Heather Main’s new acquistion, who made steady progress for David O’Meara through the summer.

19:00 – Mudlahhim
An interesting and useful handicap in which the early part of the race could prove decisive. Mehmento, Bellosa and Marshal Dan all like to get on with it and each has the ability to take this if able to get an easy time of it up front. Bellosa is particularly interesting back from a break as she looked hugely promising earlier in the year. May Night is on the up and has to be considered while these conditions bring out the best in Diocles Of Rome. None appeals more than MUDLAHHIM (nap) though, with the ex-Irish 5yo having created a very favourable impression when landing a gamble over C&D on his stable debut in August. A 3lb rise looks very fair and he can provide Mia Biggs with her second winner.
19:30 – Charlie Arthur
The ex-Irish Dream Tale looks on a sporting mark on his first run for new connections, while La Hulotte and Oz Legend come here on the back of good efforts last month. CHARLIE ARTHUR hasn’t had a recent run but he is of some interest on the pick of his form for Richard Hughes, returns to action on a good mark and may be able to make a winning start for his new yard.
